Kei Loon
Kei Loon is a mythical creature belonging to the Taoist Goddess of the
West (Xi Hwang Mu). Sometimes called a Chinese Unicorn, the Kei Loon has
the head of a dragon, the body of a horse and the scales of the carp.
It is associated with extreme good fortune and happy blessings.
According to Feng Shui literature, Fu Xi saw the Kei Loon emerged from
the river after the great flood. Marked on this Dragon Headed Horse's
back were the markings that were used to derive the Earlier Heaven Bagua,
the ultimate symbol of Taoism.
The Kei Loon is believed to have great protective abilities. This mythical
creature is believed to be able to protect an individual from all forms
of harm and danger.
Traditionally, the Kei Loon are placed in pairs, guarding the front entrance
to the house. They serve as powerful heavenly guardians that can ward
off wandering evil spirits.
Traditional Feng Shui application:
The smaller set of Kei Loon is more applicable for placing them facing
outwards from the window. If evil influences (such as sha chi from neighboring
buildings or #5 annual yearly star is found in that direction) the Kei
Loon is useful as a traditional help to counter the situation.
Bronze is the natural color of the Kei Loon as it represents strong metal
elemental influence. The metal element influence is very useful when combating
bad luck emitting from the evil #5 yellow star (Flying Star school) or
Ho Hai (Eight Mansions School).
Remember to always place the Kei Loon (in pairs) inside the house, facing
outwards. This makes them very powerful protective symbols.
